What you can expect

Out of the city and onto the trails
Your morning begins with a transfer from Marrakech to the edge of the Agafay Desert, roughly 40 minutes south of the city. On arrival, your guide introduces the e-bikes, adjusts your setup, and walks you through a short safety briefing before you set off.
The electric assist means you do not need to be an experienced cyclist. The bikes handle the uphill sections while you focus on the ride and the landscape opening up around you.
Desert plateaus and eucalyptus forests
The first stretch of the route takes you across the rocky Agafay plateau — a dry, mineral landscape of light brown earth and low ridgelines with the Atlas Mountains framed along the southern horizon. The terrain here feels remote and wide open, far from any road.
From the plateau, the trail drops into eucalyptus-lined forest paths and hidden canyons carved by seasonal rivers. Your guide adjusts the pace and route to suit the group, with stops for photos at natural viewpoints along the way.
A village pause with Berber tea
Midway through the ride, you stop at a small Berber village for a tea break at a local home. Mint tea is prepared in the traditional way — poured from height into small glass cups — and served alongside simple pastries or seasonal almonds.
This is not a staged visit. You are a guest in a working household, and the pace of the stop reflects that. Your guide provides context about village life, local agriculture, and the communities that have lived in the Agafay region for generations.
The return ride and final views
After tea, the route continues along a different set of trails through the desert, connecting single-track paths, open ridges, and dry riverbeds back toward the starting point. The final stretch offers some of the best Atlas views of the ride.
Back at base, you hand in your equipment and transfer back to Marrakech, arriving around midday or early afternoon depending on the session you choose.
A quieter way to see Agafay
This is not a motorised adrenaline experience. It is a guided ride through a landscape that most visitors only see from the back of a quad or a camel. The e-bike lets you cover real ground while keeping the pace human and the desert quiet.

Good to know
Everything you need to know for a smooth and enjoyable experience.
Do I need mountain biking experience?
No. The e-bikes have electric pedal assist that handles the uphill effort for you. You do need to be comfortable riding a bicycle on unpaved, sometimes bumpy terrain and have good balance. Your guide adjusts the route and pace to suit the group, and the trails are non-technical.
How long is the actual cycling part?
You spend roughly 2 to 2.5 hours on the bike, not counting the tea stop. The total experience including transfers and the briefing is around 4 to 5 hours. The pace is relaxed with regular photo stops — this is not a race.
What is the difference between Private, Small Group, and Group?
All three formats follow the same route and itinerary. Private gives your group a dedicated guide and flexible pace. Small Group joins you with up to 8 guests sharing one guide. Group accommodates larger parties up to 17 with additional support. The e-bikes, tea stop, and transfers are identical across formats.
What happens if the weather is bad?
Desert rides are weather-dependent. If conditions are unsafe — heavy rain, strong winds, or extreme heat — the operator may adjust the route, shift timing, or offer to reschedule. You will be notified in advance. Light wind and cool mornings are normal and do not affect the ride.
Can children join this tour?
Children who can comfortably ride an adult-sized e-bike on rough terrain may join. This typically means age 8 and above depending on height and riding confidence. Please mention children’s ages when booking so the right bike sizing can be arranged. Younger children are not suited to this activity.
What should I wear?
Closed-toe shoes are required — trainers or light hiking shoes work well. Wear comfortable, flexible clothing you do not mind getting dusty. In cooler months, bring a light jacket for the morning. Avoid loose scarves or anything that could catch in the bike chain.
