Reasons to book this tour

Ride through the Agafay Desert on quiet e-bike trails that quad tours and camel rides never reach.

Follow single-track paths through eucalyptus forests and hidden canyons carved into the desert plateau.

Stop at a Berber village home for a traditional mint tea ritual with pastries and local conversation.

Cycle with Atlas Mountain views stretching across the southern horizon for the entire ride.

Cover more ground than a hike, with none of the noise — the electric assist does the hard work on the hills.

A half-day format with a relaxed pace, expert guide, and transfer included — back in Marrakech by early afternoon.

This is the plan

Check out the plan below to see what you’ll get up to with your local host. Feel free to personalize this offer with the host of your choice.

  • Pickup from Marrakech

Transfer — Your driver collects you from your hotel or riad and heads south toward the Agafay Desert. The drive takes around 40 minutes.

  • E-bike base camp and briefing

Short visit — You arrive at the e-bike base set up in the Agafay Desert. Your guide introduces the bikes, adjusts your saddle and helmet, and walks through the route before you set off.

  • Agafay plateau and eucalyptus forest trails

Guided ride — The first section of the ride crosses the rocky desert plateau with wide Atlas views, then dips into eucalyptus forest paths and eroded canyon trails. Your guide sets the pace and stops at natural viewpoints for photos.

  • Berber village tea stop

Local moment — You pause at a traditional Berber home in a small village along the route. Mint tea is served with pastries or almonds while your guide shares context about local life and the Agafay communities.

  • Desert return trail

Guided ride — The return follows a different set of trails through open ridgelines, dry riverbeds, and single-track desert paths back to base camp. The final stretch offers some of the best panoramic views of the ride.

  • Return to Marrakech

Transfer — You hand back your equipment and transfer to Marrakech, arriving by midday or early afternoon.

Good to know

Everything you need to know for a smooth and enjoyable experience.

No. The e-bikes have electric pedal assist that handles the uphill effort for you. You do need to be comfortable riding a bicycle on unpaved, sometimes bumpy terrain and have good balance. Your guide adjusts the route and pace to suit the group, and the trails are non-technical.

You spend roughly 2 to 2.5 hours on the bike, not counting the tea stop. The total experience including transfers and the briefing is around 4 to 5 hours. The pace is relaxed with regular photo stops — this is not a race.

All three formats follow the same route and itinerary. Private gives your group a dedicated guide and flexible pace. Small Group joins you with up to 8 guests sharing one guide. Group accommodates larger parties up to 17 with additional support. The e-bikes, tea stop, and transfers are identical across formats.

Desert rides are weather-dependent. If conditions are unsafe — heavy rain, strong winds, or extreme heat — the operator may adjust the route, shift timing, or offer to reschedule. You will be notified in advance. Light wind and cool mornings are normal and do not affect the ride.

Children who can comfortably ride an adult-sized e-bike on rough terrain may join. This typically means age 8 and above depending on height and riding confidence. Please mention children’s ages when booking so the right bike sizing can be arranged. Younger children are not suited to this activity.

Closed-toe shoes are required — trainers or light hiking shoes work well. Wear comfortable, flexible clothing you do not mind getting dusty. In cooler months, bring a light jacket for the morning. Avoid loose scarves or anything that could catch in the bike chain.
