What you can expect

Into the lanes where light tells stories
Your photographer meets you near the edge of the medina and walks you in on foot. Within minutes, the wide avenues give way to narrower alleys where ochre walls catch the morning or late-afternoon sun. These are the lanes most visitors walk past — but your photographer knows where to stop.
The first portraits happen naturally: a doorway framed by carved plaster, a stretch of wall in soft shadow, a passage where the colours shift with every step. Your photographer guides you gently on positioning and expression, but the aim is relaxed and real — not stiff or staged.
Colour, texture, and the rhythm of the souks
From the quieter residential derbs, you move into the souk district. This is where Marrakech becomes a visual feast: stacked spice pyramids, handwoven textiles, rows of glowing brass lanterns, and the occasional shaft of sunlight cutting through a latticed roof.
Your photographer picks spots where the setting does the work — vibrant backdrops, interesting framing, and moments of street life that feel alive rather than posed. You’ll learn a few tips on how to read a scene and where to stand, which stay useful long after the session ends.
Architecture that earns the frame
The route passes through one of the medina’s great architectural landmarks — the kind of place where carved cedar, zellige tilework, and open courtyards create settings that look extraordinary on camera. Your photographer knows the angles, the timing, and the corners where the crowd thins out.
This is where the session shifts from portraits in context to something more striking — architecture as backdrop, with you placed precisely in the scene. Entry fees to monuments are at your own cost, and your photographer will recommend what works best for the light that day.
A pause on the rooftops
Midway through the walk, you stop at a rooftop café for mint tea. The medina opens up from above: a patchwork of terracotta, satellite dishes, minarets, and the distant Atlas peaks on a clear day. It’s a natural break, a chance to review a few shots on the camera, and one of the best settings for relaxed, candid portraits with the city as backdrop.
What you take home
Within five working days of your session, you receive a curated gallery of 80–120 professionally edited, high-resolution images delivered via an online link. These are colour-corrected and lightly retouched — natural-looking, not over-processed. They’re yours to print, share, or keep as a lasting record of your time in Marrakech.
This is the plan
Check out the plan below to see what you’ll get up to with your local host. Feel free to personalize this offer with the host of your choice.
-
Meeting point near the medina
Local moment — You meet your photographer at a central point near the edge of the old city. After a short introduction and a conversation about the kind of images you’re looking for, you walk together into the medina.
-
Hidden lanes and residential derbs
Guided walk — Your photographer leads you through quieter residential lanes where ochre walls, carved doorways, and shafts of natural light create the first portrait settings. Shooting begins here in a relaxed, unhurried rhythm.
-
Souk colour walk
Photo stop — You move into the souk district for portraits against vibrant backdrops: spice stalls, textile displays, handcrafted lanterns, and the natural street life of the medina’s commercial heart.
-
Architectural landmark
Short visit — The route includes a stop at one of the medina’s photogenic monuments — such as the Ben Youssef Madrasa area or Bahia Palace surroundings — where tilework, courtyards, and carved detail elevate the session. Entry fees are at your own cost; your photographer advises what works best for the light that day.
-
Rooftop café mint tea
Tasting — You pause at a rooftop café for included mint tea, a chance to review early shots, and a few final candid portraits with medina rooftops and minarets in the background.
-
End of session
Transfer — Your photographer walks you back toward your starting point or a convenient medina exit. Edited photos are delivered to your online gallery within five working days.

How many photos will I receive, and in what format?
You’ll receive 20-25 professionally edited, high-resolution images. Photos are delivered digitally via an online gallery link within five working days of your session. They’re colour-corrected and lightly retouched for a natural look — not heavily filtered. All images are yours to download, print, and share freely.
What's the best time of day for the session?
We recommend either a morning session (roughly 9–11 AM) when the medina is quieter and the light is soft, or a golden hour session (roughly 4–6 PM) when warm afternoon light transforms the lanes and rooftops. Your photographer will advise on the best slot based on the season and weather. Midday sessions are possible but not ideal due to harsh overhead light.
What's the difference between Private, Small Group, and Group?
In the Private format, the photographer works exclusively with your party for the full session — ideal for couples, families, or anyone who wants full creative control. The Small Group format means you share the session with a few other guests, with the photographer rotating individual and couple portraits at each stop. The Group format is a larger photo walk where everyone receives portraits but in a more social, shared setting. All formats follow the same medina route and include the same number of edited photos per person.
Can I bring outfit changes or accessories?
Yes, and we encourage it. Bringing one or two outfit options lets you vary the look across different locations. A small bag or tote is fine — the walk is relaxed enough to accommodate quick changes at discreet points. Your photographer can suggest what colours and styles work well against the medina’s warm tones.
Do I need to be comfortable in front of a camera?
Not at all. Most guests feel self-conscious at first, and that’s completely normal. Your photographer is experienced at putting people at ease with gentle direction and natural conversation. The walking format helps — you’re moving, exploring, and interacting with the city, not standing stiffly in one spot. Many of the best shots come from candid moments rather than posed ones.
Are monument entry fees included?
No. Monument entries such as Ben Youssef Madrasa or Bahia Palace are at your own cost, typically 50–100 MAD per person. Your photographer will suggest whether an interior visit is worthwhile based on the light, crowd levels, and your preferences. Beautiful shots are possible outside the monuments as well, so entry is optional rather than essential.
